Chicago-based Mitsui Rail Capital has named John O'Bryan president of the company. O'Bryan will take over the role from Seigo Watanabe, the company's CEO, who has served as interim president since August 2008.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Bank of Japan is planning to buy up to 2 trillion yen ($22.3 billion) in commercial paper as part of efforts to ensure companies can get short-term financing, the Nikkei newspaper reported on its Web site Friday.

The outlook for the Japanese economy is becoming gloomier as its main locomotives, namely big manufacturers, are likely to suffer operating losses in the current fiscal year amid the global financial turmoil, analysts said Thursday. Toyota Motor Corp.
