Dear Myanmar Myo Chits, Patriots , and Friends.

A few days ago I was talking about the need for a good opposition in our country. I published a message under the title of “ RUM NEEDS A GOOD, AND A RESPONSIBLE OPPOSITION.” For further progress and further developments , and democracy to be proper one if not the best , and to take root in our country.

I had a very encouraging replying saying the following. I am publishing here as it is without any editing, it is for your pleasure to read it in full and study.

“The main duties of the opposition party The main responsibility of any opposition party in any country is to present to the voters an alternative viewpoint and an alternative group of political leaders to lead the country in time of need.
Let us look at the situation in the USA. I will not go back too much in US history but if we look at recent history, we can see that there are two main political parties: the Democrats and the Republicans. Some times the Democrats control the Congress and some times the Republicans control the Congress. [/i][/i]
The good thing about American politics is that no matter who becomes President, there is a healthy interaction between the President and the leaders of the opposition party.
After a new President is inaugurated, he receives a good briefing from the out-going President.
Some times Republicans may vote with the Democrats on a certain bill in Congress. Some times teh Democrats will vote with the Republicans.
As far as the people are concerned, what is most important is for the laws to be thoroughly discussed and debated before they are passed by Congress and signed into law by the President.
I do not think it is the duty of any opposition party to destroy the economy of the country in its attempt to gain political power.
This is something Myanmar politicians should think seriously.
The success of any Parliament or Congress depends on the quality and the nationalism of the members of Parliament and the wisdom and quality of their political debates.
Myanmar citizens and all Myanmar politicians should learn from what is happening in the world and what is happening in the world's democracies.
Laws are created by Man to benefit Man. (this includes women also).
So I think the most important duty of a democratic government is to raise the educational standard of its citizens and to promote research and healthy debates on all the major issues that affect society. ”

In welcoming his comment I have this to say ; I would like to thank him for putting weight on my post which entitled “ RUM NEEDS A GOOD, AND A RESPONSIBLE OPPOSITION.”

Some incompetent people don ’t even know what I meant by“ RUM ”. After I used a thousand times , Republic of Union of Myanmar , I shortened it to RUM. Like others shortened to UOM ( Union of Myanmar ). These people don’t understand they have to oppose it as well. Like Burma or Myanmar. Well, this is not a big thing.

The opposition party in RUM namely NLD was weak, but they did not know how weak they were. Some people like me pointed out, but no use. Some of its EC members were with BSPP. Gen. Ne Win and in the end BSPP fell. So was NLD because of these same people.

That is the weakness of the main opposition in our country, because EC members were weak. They played politic as their personal fight , personnel grudge, using the people and the nation, victimising them. NLD is gone now, but there is NDF , reformed NLD . And there may be opposition in the future. Who is going to oppose who . I have no idea. His advice was a very relevant one. Myanmar opposition need to take a look at it. With due respect I would like to add a few more things.

When I say, Democracy is nothing new to us Myanmars , Myanmars are no strangers to Democracy . We Myanmars are no infants, no babies, neither are we upstarts, some people may not agree with me. Nobody has to breast feed us on democracy.

In Myanmar history “Kyansitthar” was democratically elected King of Myanmar, because Sawluu son who was the of Anawrahta, was killed by Ngyaman Gan . Sawluu mistrust for Kyansitthar or Sawluu not having “ common sense” , to Kyansitthar or own inferiority complex killed him

United States is a gathering place for all those who believe in democracy. Most of them were democrats already, believe in democracy already when they came to the new world, they brought the democracy with them. Yet , that democracy had to wait to work properly, to function properly. The ground breaking work, cleaning bushes and thorns , weeds and stones had to be done, including some genocide. Crimes against humanity, war crimes.

United States of America has to come a long way to be in this position. Whether we want to look at its past history or present history, there was, and there is nothing that American had not done, or would not do.

We can talk a lot of good things about US, and a lot of bad things. Take your pick.
American are not “Gods ”. But I cannot deny that there are people who are much more closer to the US than to their Gods. Nothing has change in that sense after centuries of the democratization of U.S.A., and installing and imposing that democracy to other countries, by hooks or by crooks .

What others democratic countries have done Myanmars have done as well. Parliamentary Democracy was there in Myanmar. One party democracy was there as well.

I stated that Myanmar opposition(NLD)did not know what it was doing. What it was opposing. It opposes anything against the government (SPDC). They don’t think what to oppose or what to support. What is in the interest of the people. What is the interest of the nation.

It is very sad , very sad that especially the leader of the main opposition NLD , happened to be known as an intellect, an academic, well educated person. What kind of education lessons, and example is this leader of the opposition giving showing to other Myanmars Myanmars. She was surrounded by these incompetent people, who has personnel grudge or animosity against someone.

“ I do not think it is the duty of any opposition party to destroy the economy of the country in its attempt to gain political power. ” I like that, I like that very much very much. I don’t think Myanmar opposition thinks that way , I don’t think they had that thinking power, or that thinking ability. They had anger, that anger blinded them.

“ Regime change ” is the familiar word which is used by the US so very often.

What is Myanmars opposition which is supported by US and the west , supposed to be thinking ? To construct is to destruct ? Destruction of a country and its people is in many ways and in many forms, politically, economically and socially. Was NLD following Pol Pot idea to start RUM from year Zero ?

The wisdom and the quality of the politicians will make quality debates, which is for the progress and development of the people of the nation. Parliaments, and congress with full of foul people will smell foul , that’s for sure . What is Myanmar parliament be with NLD, or in future?

“ Myanmar citizens and all Myanmar politicians should learn from what is happening in the world and what is happening in the world's democracies.” The realities of the world . But it still depend how one interpret or translate. Who wants to learn , what are they going to learn, its up to them.

Myanmar has no sex discrimination. “The Buddhist doctrine of the equality of all men and women was superimposed with grace and harmony on the native tradition of social quality,” “ man and women are born free and equal . ”

Any government has a duty to raise the educational standard of its citizens. Those who do not get to a certain standard do not reach to a certain standard should be specially taken care of. To those who do not want to learn , should be ousted from the society, to make rooms for others who wants to learn. Handicapped people , and those with learning difficulties are something else. But those who do not want to learn are harmful to the whole society if not the coming generation . They are like contagious disease. They should not be allowed.

There may be incompetent people everywhere, but a nation is not built by these incompetent people. That is for sure.
