WINNIPEG (CBC) - Militants in Afghanistan forced three buses carrying 155 labourers in western Afghanistan to stop on Sunday and the insurgents took everybody on board hostage, officials said Monday.

French members of parliament voted 343 to 21 Monday to keep French troops in Afghanistan. Later in the day, the senate voted 29 to 119 in favour of continuation of the mission.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) _ The U.S. military scheduled the first family visits at its Afghanistan detention center Tuesday, allowing the international Red Cross to transport the relatives of prisoners to the main American base at Bagram.
