East Java, policewomen must wear Islamic veil
On March 7, 2009, the new chief of police has issued a "nonbinding" order for all women in uniform. Police officers are also asked to pray five times a day. The headquarters in Java has approved the norm, and says that the agents are "free" to decide whether to follow it.

Prostitute murders hit HK

The back-to-back killings have drawn attention to a peculiarity in Hong Kong law: Prostitution is legal, but brothels are not. As a result, many prostitutes work alone in apartments, leaving them vulnerable to attack.
