Thank you, Jacques! You are too kind!

Hi Kevin
I would like to impart my admiration for the concern everyone is showing and giving to readers by sharing substantial articles for all of us.
Can I say we are all fans of each other here?
I would take what you said not as anything else but a motivation and encouragement to carry on. I personally think that all posters are contributing meaningfully to this site.
Others have stronger personalities while still others are softer and that will again be “complement” as what Jacques previously said .
Meanwhile let us consider Asia Observer to be a dining table where all could benefit
by taking courses with red wine from Jacques.
Thumbs up to the administrator and the moderator and for all of us cheers!
merci
linsi

Hello Jacques,
Have been meaning to thank you for the quality of the articles you bring to Asia Observer. As an Australian-based journalist who writes a lot about the Asia-Pacific region, I find your shared reports on politics and in-depth articles great background for my own work!
Getting to the point though,my favourite type of articles for sharing would be politics, diplomacy, international relations, human rights, environment and Asian initiatives in such areas as renewable energy and the like.
To name but a few!
Regards

Hello again Jacques,
Thanks for your reply.
Presently I am covering environmental subjects for the Asia-Pacific region for a NZ-based ecological magazine, combine an Asian news viewpoint under a "world news" umbrella reporting for two online political current affairs-style journals and a press agency.
In short, without concentrating on any one or number of countries, I like to cover most of the Asian continent, however being Australian it is easier for me to take an interest in those countries which are closer geographically or have a trade interest in my country.
As I said in my last post, I find your posts and shared articles excellent, thanks again.
Rich

Dear Sremmah,
At least you're doing what all of us should have been doing long, long ago. Environmental degradation is not an issue that has just cropped out of the blue. It's our greed and greed alone that has taken us to the stage where we are today.
Don't you think that most of our leaders have been concerned only on how healthy our economy should be rather than 'how healthy is the environment we live in'?
If economics is about 'supply and demand' than without our craze for timber related products to excesses then there wouldn't be 'deforestation' and our Carbon emissions getting into the atmosphere in the first place. Is the Turnbull's solution of pouring money into forestation of rainforest in Indonesia a good idea to address the issue?
I'm no where near being a scientist but my experience in petro-chemical industries and how 'illegal dumping' of toxic materials into our environment, may it be the sea, rivers or underground, had effect on it. Out of sight, out of mind had been the case in most occasions.
Despite the fact that we have 'Enviromental Impact Studies' and bodies with various names to monitor whether a proposed project has 'little' or 'neglible' impact on the environment, how come our environment is in such a mess today.
If we let businesses have their way without government control or legislative restraint dictated by 'greed alone' will be like a man killing the goose that lays the golden egg. The goose, our mother earth, is dying.
Please may people aware that enriching ourselves by selling coal, gas and other minerals without putting conditions (like the end user code in sale of weapons)is neither smart nor ethical if the greed of China or India is going to hasten us to our doomsday.
I'm sure that you are spot on by looking at Asia on these issues. As far as I'm aware we have not that much concern for the impact on the environment as a long term issue.

Hello Warazein,
Your points are very well made and I find myself in agreement with them. All we ever hear from our leaders is the mantra "economic growth," without any emphasis put on the damage it does to our environment.
A valid point made by many environmentalists is we much sacrifice such growth to allow us to reduce harmful emissions. I agree the "booming economies" of Asia - such as China - are one area where we must look at reducing, not increasing harmful emissions.
But then people have to live don't they? And its people who (in democracies anyway) elect governments.
Cheers
Rich
