Members on Asia Observer are allowed to send each other private messages. This is a way to encourage personal communication between the users of Asia Observer.

Occasionally some members abuse this right to spam others. This happened today when many users received a spam message from a user called "Sandra22".

I would like to say a few words about how we handle spam on Asia Observer:
- Spamming others is considered abuse of your member priviledges. Members who spam will be given a warning or have their membership deleted.
- Your e-mail address will not be revealed to others by Asia Observer. Even if you receive a message through our private messaging system, the sender will not know your email address.

I ask you to forward spam messages to me and prompt action will be taken.

SINCE LATE FEBRUARY, I RECEIVED A COUPLE OF SPAMS AS REPORTED AND I AM CERTAIN WHO IS BEHIND THESE SPAMS.

EVER SINCE I WROTE THE TRUE STORIES AND IN CONTRAST WITH THE GUY (NOT guys) WHO DISAPPEARED FROM THIS FORUM, I START TO RECEIVE THE SPAMS

I WILL NOT BE SURPRISED THEY ARE DOING IT AGAIN.

BECOS THEY HAVE THE LOWEST MENTALITY AND MANNER AND WILLING TO DO ANYTHING, IN BURMESE WE HAVE SAYING, IF YOU CANNOT HAVE IT THEY WILL SPRAY THE FOOD WITH SAND SO THAT NOBODY CAN EAT.

John, just wondering if we could place a "Report as Spam" feature in our Private Messaging system. In such way, spam messages can be reported instantly to you or the IP address of the user can be blocked or suspended temporarily if not permanently.

From the very beginning, I opposed of sending private mail to other member (re my posting on 28/01) as I am quite certain that these kinds of things will happen.

As I have said before, should any member wishes to contact other member, he should contact the moderator first and the moderator will do the needful contact and if both parties accepted, then it will be better to send private messages.

I don’t think that everybody received the SPAM, if you should check the messages posted by the persons who received the spams, I am sure that you will understand why they have received the spasm and have some ideas who is sending those spams.
