The Irrawaddy magazine runs a big cover story on Nobel peace prize laurate Aung San Suu Kyi in this month's issue.
Here are the articles:
The Lady Fights On
Despite continuing house arrest and her dismissal as a “non-person” by Burma’s ruling junta, opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi remains a relevant and uniting political force, says Aung Zaw in one of several cover stories devoted to “The Lady.”
Meetings with Aung San Suu Kyi
Razali Ismail describes his meetings with Aung San Suu Kyi during the visits he made to Burma in his four years as UN special envoy. His recollection is of a strong woman “fortified by her strong principles” and “unbowed under all circumstances.”
How They See The Lady…
Seven ethnic leaders share their views about Suu Kyi and find general agreement that she possesses the qualities needed to achieve reconciliation in Burma.
Time, the Generals and Aung San Suu Kyi
Author of a recently-published book on Aung San Suu Kyi, Belgian photojournalist Thierry Falise examines why Burma’s ruling generals still fear her. For all the junta’s efforts to erase Suu Kyi’s influence, her popularity remains as strong as ever, Falise says.

I really admire her strength of spirit, she's a beautiful woman, i was just thinking about her family, her medical status (women have more auto-immune concerns) but perhaps, leaders are born and when they do lead, they sacrifice a lot thinking of non-other else but the common good for the greater good.
I have read several articles about how to be a leader, and what it takes to be,they have the passion
of setting aside their own comforts, their lives at risks
for the cause they believe in.
I just hope something happens while Aung San Suu Kyi is still there, but there are times that these leaders donot get to see the fruits of their sacrifices.
I hope Myanmar gets to see the light of democracy.

She is indeed a strong woman!
I met her myself in Rangoon seven years ago. I wrote about that meeting - and how I was followed by the security police afterwards - in this blog posting here on Asia Observer.

wooah! How i wish i could also meet the lady, but as i read your blog, i couldn't help but feel a bit nervous, will meeting her cost my life?
how coward of me, when this epitome of Burma's democratic strength offers her own life, and everything she has.
i have never known a woman as brave as she is, will there be?
perhaps,i can do something in my silence,( a change of attitude,)as women of today only think of their own vanity, here stands Aung San Suu Kyi fighting bravely for the people of Burma.
i just wonder, what's inside her mind, seems her houst arrest isn't enough, will there be any other way? will she stay there until the end?
endless questions....

one thing more, i learned about her husband's death, i just couldn't remember the source, maybe i could find time later to review, but the article says: (please correct me)
before her husband's death, she was permitted to leave burma for england to be with her spouse, but she refused, and rather chose the other way around, her husband coming instead of her going out of her country. the military junta denied such arrangements until her husband died.
she made a choice..and i was wondering... that was a tough choice, and decision, was it right? and why?
i may not fully understand but aung san suu kyi knows the answer...

She was autorised to go to Great Britain for the funeral of her husband, but she was sure not to be autorised to come back. It's why she prefered to stay in Burma to continue the fight for freedom

I asked Aung San Suu Kyi about this sacrifice.
She responded:
"What I have done is not so uncommon. Many other people have made the same choice; they are just not so well-known as me. Many of our activists have lived for years away from their families, either because they are in prison or because of financial reasons. I believe all of us have made this choice for the same reason - because we believe our country deserves better and that everybody should do their part to enforce necessary improvements in Burma.
- But have you ever asked yourself whether your personal sacrifice was just too big?
- I have never thought about it in that way."

In fact DASSK is the Lady for Burmese People. Please don't think I'm exaggerated if I say she is more like a Saint or "Thudawzin" for Burmese. I saw some young generation women almost worship her and put her picture near Buddha statue on their sacred shrine and softly (not so loud) praying for her health and wellbeing everyday. Despite the oppression from SPDC government, Burmese people love her very much.
The whole group of SPDC can challenge open opinion poll anytime they like.
