Is it time to talk about Aung San Suu Kyi?
NLD demand officially to convene the parliament and to release Aung San Suu Kyi.
Which parliament NLD talk about? Why Aung San Suu kyi should be released? I have no idea. Do you have one?
I as an ordinary citizen of Myanmar I wish the international community and all politicians concerned talk about our country, about our economy, about the reconstruction of cyclone hit area (Irrawaddy Division), about the Nation Building process, about lifting of economic sanctions imposed on our country.
I do not want to hear about reconvening of a parliament which we do not know and the release of Aung San Suu Kyi who has nothing to do with our people and our country.
It is time for reconstruction, rebuilding of our economy destroyed by long time imposed economic sanction.
I would like to tell International Community (UN and its special envoy Mr. Gambari) and all people concerned to talk about our country and our people wellbeings if the international community is willing to help us and not about the things which we are not interested in and which have nothing to do with the improving of our lives.
Please do not link any kind of aids and loans with the release of Aun San Suu Kyi who is dead politically in Myanmar and who has no future in our society.
Thanks and regards,
Time to convene the parliament, says NLD (sources BBC)
The National League for Democracy (NLD) has urged the government to convene people's parliament and to start the national reconciliation process.
The main opposition party, National League for Democracy, won the elections in 1990 but the regime refused to hand over power to the party and thus the parliament was not allowed to convene.
NLD party insists that the restrictions imposed upon delivering aid to cyclone- hit Irrawaddy Delta is the result of the politcal stalement and it is paramount to start national reconciliation, U Thein Nyunt, NLD spokesperson, told the BBC Burmese Service.
Meanwhile, the UN food and agricultural agency FAO said more than 50,000 farmers in cyclone-hit delta would be unable to plant a new rice crop before August unless emergency aid is received.
The FAO launched a fresh appeal for US$83 million in emergency aid.
