Let's make a list of things that we can do as ordinary citizens in order to make the Philippines a better nation.

1. pay your taxes
2. uphold Filipino values
3. fight corruption
4. vote wisely
5. celebrate Pinoy excellence
6. support Filipino-made products
7. invest in the Philippines (if you're abroad working)
8. follow traffic rules
9. speak positively about our country
10. change Filipino time
11. [your contribution here]

You can make this list longer by providing your suggestions.

15.) Stay a safe distance away from other people's business. Recognize the fine line between being concerned and being nosy. I encourage vigilance but it should serve a positive purpose which will benefit all as defined by undebatable norms.

16.) Steer away from the mentality that our kids have the obligation to provide for us when we grow old. We shouldn't force them to feel that they owe us anything.

17.) Educate people that governing bodies were established to serve and protect the welfare of the people and not the other way around. Real Filipinos do not bow down to oppressors especially if they are among us.

18.) Never give up the vision of a better Philippines. The length of the healing process may be unpredictable but we WILL get there.

Post edited by: kayum, at: 2007/04/08 01:12
