Howdy linsi,
Although it is open to all, its OK to keep on discussing the analysis, Yes we can! (the theme of Obama Campaign slogan)
Thanks for the explanation and I agree with you. If there is no direct threat US seldom move its forces. But that was with Bush jr. The next new President will have new strategies and impact on the world. I’m not sure US will ignore the “outpost” just as Bush jr Admin has.
Thanks for the link on how Myanmar military is so desperate to survive and steals goods intended for Cyclone victims. I hope US Navy withdraws and do not attempt to supply any goods or aids and let Myanmar military struggle on their own. Who knows what will strike them again. It is stupid to think that Nargis strikes only civilians for this Irrawaddy delta is the hub of Burmese military. In fact the Karens almost occupied Rangoon/Yangon when the Karen forces (conflict between Karens and Bamars) invade and take stronghold INSEIN township, the suburb of Yangon. Insein township is only 10 miles away from the center of Yangon City, the ex capital city of Myanmar. Burmese army almost fall at that time.
In a way I thank Nargis very much for retaliation. Nargis is my favorite “perfect” cyclone embedded in the history of Asia. Nargis will be remembered as the ONLY force (no one does, not UN or US or EU or no nation) that invade and destroy the evil Burmese military. Hope many Nargis will follow in the future. Sorry about the collateral damage or deaths of innocent civilians. Hey! No pain no gain. Remember that.
Regards,
Miramar.

it is a topic for discussing both our perrenial querry on why the
free world specially US, has turned cold shoulders
about the grief of Myanmar.
i hope anyone who has more ideas, share with us
so that each one of us can learn more--B)
people have different approaches to life-
likewise, people have different approaches
to discussions-
Reading about the article-
"Why the junta steals foreign aid"
some members of the military are frustrated
others defected to the other side
since the september monks revolt-
