1.just wanted to clarify, what do you mean when you say prioritise democracy?

2.does economic development hinder democracy so much so that one have to choose the other as priority?

Under right dictatures, in Asia or South America, the economy was no bad. Under marxist dictature, it was bad for economy and democracy. The best way is a good economic program under a democratic regime

I was referring to political freedom and its implication to the economy. I remember reading an article that the problem with the Philippines is too much democracy. That people are so passionate about their freedom to the extent of compromising the economy.

Some said that too much freedom has caused the country vulnerability to internal conflict and quarrels. And conflicts consequently contribute to economic instability.

I guess, the challenge is to strike a balance between the two. So as freedom and economy can become mutually benefiting for all.

then does the question of "priority" fall at the back seat contrary to what was previously asked?

I don't think there is a mismatch between democracy and economic progress. Rather they can play together very well.
There are many aspects to this. I will mention only one: Democracy ensures a level of checks and balances in a system, which is very important for a healthy economic development.
