Parittas are from the Buddhist tradition. They are meant for protection. They do not ask any God for any favor.

I know Myanmar is made up of people with various beliefs but the majority are Buddhists. So the Buddhist will pray anyway, whether you like it or not. That is their right. Also, other can pray if they wish. That is their right.

What I am proposing is to take action that will help the cyclone victims. People have to learn "self-reliance".

According to the law of Karma, we get what we deserve.

So whatever good or bad happens to me is the result of karma, past, present and future. That is what I believe.

I want to emphasize that "prayers help" in their own way. That is my belief. Whether you believe it or not is your right. I have no say in this matter whether you pray or not or whether you belive in Buddha or not.

That is your individual conscience and I have to respect that.
