Do you know that:

The Filipino soldiers showed US Army men
the way they caught a snake using a yardstick
and take its blood and meat.
To keep them from hunger,
the soldiers also made food from ants.

They also taught the US soldiers
in making weapons
out of anything available in the forest,
as well as the so-called slide for life
that uses twigs and ropes to cross waters???

If there is what we call swiss knives
and the adventures of mcgyver these
things teach us about survival

and yet the forest can be an enemy
or friend to us if we know how-

eating insects are taught to supplement
humans of protein and other food sources
during drought and other calamities

That's not all August 4 that is Obama's birthday also happens to be ‘Chopstick day’ in Obama city.

People in the town of 32-thousand say that an Obama presidency could enhance the city's profile far beyond Japanese borders.

Receptionists at the Sekumiya Hotel in the city of Obama in Fukui prefecture, and her...

The origin of bananas is placed in Southeast Asia, in the jungles of Malaysia, Indonesia or Philippines, where so many varieties of wild bananas still grow at present.

Do you know that:

After rice, wheat and milk, it is the fourth most valuable food ?

In export, it ranks fourth among all agricultural commodities and is the most significant of all fruits, with world trade totaling $2.5 billion annually. Yet, only 10% of the annual global output of 86 million tons enters international commerce. Much of the remaining harvest is consumed by poor subsistence farmers in tropical Africa, America and Asia. For most of the latter producers, banana and plantain (which is a type of banana) are staple foods that represent major dietary sources of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins A, B6 and C, and potassium, phosphorus and calcium.

Do you know that:
Without the yak, which exists nowhere else in the world,
Tibet would be uninhabited?

The animal is resistant to extreme cold, -30 or -40°.
The nights in winter do not frighten the yak even in high winds.

It provides everything = meat, milk of which
one makes butter and oil for lamps,
the long hair is useful for making ropes,
clothing, blanquets and tents,

dung is used as fuel, to boil the tea
as it does not give enough calories to heat
either a house or a tent.

The yak is useful as a pack animal,
sure footed in mountainous regions.

From the east of Tibet, to reach China,
it is necessary to cross nearly 2000km of desert
in the north and iced wooded mountains in the south...
Certain places are so inaccessibles
that one expects to find there the most hidden tribes
of Pygmies in the world.

Without the yak, which exists nowhere else in the world, the country would be uninhabit

Australia is the third biggest importer of timber or timber products in the region, behind China and Japan. About 9 per cent of timber or timber products imported into Australia, worth $452 million, comes from the illegal industry. And the illicit trade is responsible for 22 per cent of all wooden furniture imported into Australia.

The report says the consumption of illegal timber is "not criminalised and largely not regulated" in Australia.

Do you know that:

Thailand has its own peculiar dancing plant?
This herbal tea is from the amazing Udorn Dancing Plant,
a hybrid of Desmodium Gyrant also known as
the "telegraph plant", because of its ability to respond

to sounds like music, singing, gentle talk,
as well as meditation and telepathy by moving its leaves.

Extract from this herbal plant
was used in some parts of ancient Thailand
as a preventative against several diseases.
They called it by the name Cha Chaloe Charn,
meaning "anti-aging tea".

Kolkata city, houses the second largest red light district in India, is probably the only city in the world where sex workers run their own banking institution. The bank has an annual turnover of 2.5 million dollars and is now branching out to other parts of the state.

The city has also set an example as to how the menace of HIV Aids can be reduced by empowering the sex workers.
