6 NOVEMBER 2005 : MYNMAR CAPITAL MOVED TO PYINMANA
On that day, the military junta of Myanmar begins moving its government ministries from Yangon to Pyinmana, an 100,000 population city, situated in Mandalay Division, around 320 km north of Yangon
The military never said why they changed the capital place
Someones said that Than Shwe, the junta leader is afraid of an U.S. attack, as they did in Irak and that this remote place is more difficult to attack than Rangoun.
Pyinmana area is also the place where was based the Burma National Army, trained by the Japanese military, but that in 1945 turned against them with Aung San as a leader.
So Pyinmana, is an icon in the Burmanese Army and could be the reason of the choice.
