Bhutan had taken the first step to maturity. She may be small or insignificant but she had taken a giant step towards pursuing for freedom and prosperity. We, as free people should welcome, encourage and support this bold and brilliant move of Bhutan in joining the free world. Welcome Bhutan welcome into the free world of nations. http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/front/ Bhutan_takes_first_step_towards_democracy.html?siteSect=105& sid=8907498&cKey=1206802253000&ty=st

excerpts:

...Almost all of China is offended that foreigners are so keen to lecture them and to encourage the petty boycotts that could spoil the Olympic party. It genuinely infuriates the Chinese that they are blamed for Darfur while their Western critics occupy Iraq.

...Tibetans have a strong case against Beijing. But mixing it in with the Olympics and Darfur is a red rag to a wounded young bull.

....
How will the Chinese react if the Olympics really do become noted more for demonstrations and boycotts by Tibetan-inspired foreigners than for the achievements of China's athletes and organizers? At whom will popular anger then be directed

is it right that the olympic torch
be a cannon ball to vent political angst against a country?

every now and then the toch relay is disrupted

"What we get concerned with is that
people take advantage of a democratic environment
to abuse good order and take it out on the Olympic torch,"

said Kevan Gosper, an IOC board member.

"If people simply demonstrated to make their cause clear,
that's one thing. But, for people to demonstrate
to the extent where violence takes place
and with people arrested,

it's a complete abuse
of our democratic right and that upsets us."
http://www.voanews.com/english/2008-04-08-voa38.cfm

this is the trouble with democracy
in 1 million people, with 1 million minds
a million consideration and a million adjustments
has to be done-

Re:Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan 6 Months ago Karma: 11
With respect, I disagree strongly with linsi.

This is my perspective and perception:
I understand US President Bush had a strong personal (just like he had with Russian outgoing President Putin) relationship with Chinese Communist Party Boss or Bosses and during his “watch” China had become financial super power and US is facing recession with the intake of huge unfair trade surplus China “enjoys” with US (not to mention US is the borrower and China is the lender) and the “war on middle class” currently under way in US and it is NOT rewarding to home owners (I call them investors) who owns 2 or more houses for middle class people. IF, I am the President of USA (just a dream), I would certainly give tax breaks to people who owns “unlimited” houses encouraging to make 90% of Americans to become millionaires (not homeless/poor) not to mention the baby boomers are retiring soon and social security system is in jeopardy and want them to find their own ways to support themselves in becoming rich. The more houses or investments you make the more tax breaks or available credits you will get scenario. I want to encourage people to invest and NOT to discourage or punish people by more taxing them. I wouldn’t be surprise if President Bush goes to Beijing Olympic. Not at all. That’s his "personal" decision.
My point is this………………I know majority and many people around the world separate “politics” and “sports”. I know that, BUT if any person thinks carefully we as humans are conjoined to both “politics” AND “sports” for “humanity” is the fundamental foundation in which we as humans relies on. Humanity belongs to humans and as humans we have the right to conduct in a very human way of love and affection to those unfortunate fellow humans who are suffering in every day life. Call it any way you want but caring, loving, understanding, standing with the weak and sufferers are noble no matter which way one calls it either ‘politics” or “sports”. We as humans should not separate anything that belongs to humans in a very passionate compassionate understanding wise way which we all know as “humanity”. When I say “humanity” it includes all things that related to humans and that includes “Sports” and “politics”.

Best regard and respect,

Miramar, where "humanity" comes first above all.

I understand Miramar,

I am thankful for the very objective and polite response.
What i posted were excerpts from articles..

let me get down to the point: I would quote
emily lau a pro-democracy legistlator from hong kong

" allow protests and demonstrations when the torch comes
in hongkong, allow peaceful and proper demonstrations"

i think this implies= "democracy with responsibility"

the buddhists in Myranmar- were "peace-loving" people
who also rose against China's "collaboration" with the junta
their message was heard and brought across the universe.

after that- the world stood still.

what will happen after beijing olympics?
will the world still dance with the music with tibet?
or will it dance with China after all?

Why was China allowed to join the WTO?
Why did the UN listen to China when
it rejected Taiwan's membership?
why buy China's merchandize albeit high percentage
of lead tainted toys,
poor hygiene standard stuffs etc,
as this country is now
branded as the bully of Asia?

worst, why did the World Health Organization
turned its back against Taiwan when this
territory was suffering badly from SARS?
Is this humane enough?

and if Tibet wants freedom then let it stand firm
with its fight for freedom

The torch is not China-
democracy is the proper way
but with responsibility

thanks for the most polite
response Miramar, you also earned my respect-
i hope others would do the same-

linsi
