Burma detects new Bird flu outbreak

March 1, 2007 - With the detection of a new case of bird flu on Wednesday the Burmese government has had to slaughter over 1,500 chickens and ducks from farms in the suburbs of Rangoon.
Burma faced the first outbreak of the deadly H5N1 Bird flu virus early last year before detecting cases of Bird flu on Wednesday at poultry farms in Rangoon's Mayangone Township.
The Burmese authorities have placed a temporary ban on the sale and movement of poultry in three townships in the area of the outbreak, reports said.
Meanwhile, the United Nations said it will assist Burma in its fight against the deadly virus by beginning to help isolate poultry farms, disinfecting them and slaughtering birds.
Burmese officials said that the latest outbreak has affected chickens, ducks and pullets, killing a total of 68 birds.
Burma last reported an outbreak of bird flu in March 2006, where over 100 chickens died at a farm in Aung Myay Thar Zan Township in Mandalay , about 700-kilometers north of Rangoon.

I thought BOLTS AND NUTS WORSHIPED SAYA said that OUR MOUNTAINS ARE TOO HIGH FOR THE BIRD FLU.
