i think it is about time to ask you about categories in the forum boards

we have country forum boards-

but when eye on asia and security on asia were formed
most of asian countries concerned are being drawn
to this two threads-

can you describe how an article be properly addressed about a particular asian country without redanduncy?Because
all movements in particular asian countries are drawn into one thread already- what will it be for country forums when there is already eye on asia which gives holistic view?


Ex/ 1-about joseph estrada which karlom posted under philippine country forum- it can also be syphoned in
eye on asia because asia stands for the whole continent
of countries involved-

2- if i post under taiwan country forum, i can post
about the conflict in this country but there is asia
security- sometimes articles have diversities in the
in its presentations- concerned about security blended
with culture-



How about the shared artices

1.-Do we have freedom to post as many articles? because
sometimes there are news which abound and many interesting
artices coming up all at the same time-or we have to
slow down , stop for awhile and wait for the others ( if others will) to post instead? so that others wil be given a chance? do we have limited memory bites for text and fonts?


what if many of the registered members dont post and only 10 are active, 5 most active, and another 5 semi-active? How do you evaluate it?


don't news makers snoop for scoops? the hottest features?
don't we consider the ones with unlimited internet access?
as assets to AO?






2.-How can we evaluate popular articles?
we have more than 500 registered members? correct me
i will take the 500 hundred for sample figures anyway

if we have 500 (example) do we have 10% active posters
out of 500? that would give us 50 heads-
how can we gauge popular posted articles if our page is silent? shall we get it from down 10 posters out of 500?
and then if there are 6 to 10 replies we will consider it as popular? not even reaching a 10 % ?

or shall we gauge it by hits?- (viewing) if there are more viewing than responses then will it be ideal to gauge it
as popular?

3.-How do you tell if a site for current news is ideal?
How would you tell us if it is ok.how would you tell if a particular article in asia benefits the goal of AO will it be by means of replies only? by viewing only? which of which weighs more?


4-Can you please remind us of guidelines from the admins?
like the size of photos in the shared articles? will it be controlled? for uniformity? or it is a free size?

I know your question was not officialy againt to me, but I saw that I was the main target.

You seems don't understand that some topics could be shared in several forums.

If one day you share an article about Asia security, it will be on shared articles of that day but soon will disappeared.

But if I think this article is a very basic insteresting article I will add in Asia security Forum because we need archives to work.

For On that day It is a history event comment. Were is the problem ? we have moved it in Society, history...

For my forum Jacques eye on Asia we are looking with John to transfert it as a blog. But for the moment, I keep my freedom to use all the Asian websites to support my point of view, even if an article has already be published on A.O. by another member

I already wrote you that what among you give me the most (and for your readers) is the fantastic news sources you use. Why I am puting BBC news that everybody can see by himself ?

1) Because they give the main news on Asia and I want to keep them somewhere, because after one or two days they disppear

2) Because the BBC news have pictures and, as you teached me, it give a more pleasant front page to A.O.

3)Why I syphon shared articles in my threads ? because I try to collect the best articles, shared or not, by topics. How long time is an shared article to be seen on A.O. If you go to &quot;last year&quot; only five page are availables. Five pages for all one year ! So, if articles are classified by topics we can keep them for ever. What is the problem for you ?

There is a lot of thing to improve on A.O. I have a long list but we have to wait that Richard has a good knowlege and control. For instance, one week ago, I rise the question &quot;how to look all the inbox messages&quot;. I received 180, but I just can read the last ten ones, as the outbox is OK. Some more comments before going to bed. It is 6 AM in France and I am realy desesperate to have some trouble with you my best friend on A.O.

When I syphoned, as you said, shared articles on my threads, I mentioned, and mainly you, who put it firt on A.O.

If John is no more obliged to share a lot of articles every day, as he was doing when you joined A.O. it is just because he can now account on members as you, me, and a lot of new members I encouraged to take part as Gabe, Choco and others from different countries. Don't oblige him to chose.

My dream is to have a member in each Asian country to be our &quot;special correspondent&quot; because we cannot check every country news agencies every day and, in another hand, we have not to monopolise A.O. front pagen either me, you or another member. Some times ago, I asked John if he think that I was too much in shared articles and forums, because I don't want to impose me.

You said my shared articles are among the most hited. I never think to go there. But as you can see, the ones the more hited shared by you are on the topics I share articles. So you can see what kind articles are waiting our guests. Every time you share an important article, I am not obliged to do it and save my time. Go on

this does not mean one who last post have the final say-

i am just glad that you and everyone else read what i thought-
i have the sincerest motive to give the readers
the best of what i could-

i am subject to the office of the admins and would be
satisfied with the answers and deisions of that office.

Asia Observer is not an effort of one or two or three people

i have always said this site is a community effort where everybody gives its own share for the betterment.---it needs EVERYBODY-

If John din't reply to you there is two kinds of situation

1) He is very busy

2) He is very embarassed to see his two mains contributors at odds.

I already asked you not to ask him give a &quot;verdict&quot; as you said. He need, and A.O. guests, both of us.

I am not a man glad on fighting. If you are no more my friend, I will move to another website
