10 SEPTEMBER 1980 : HUA GUOFENG OBLIGED TO QUIT AS PRIME MINISTER
After the death of Zhou Enlai in January 1976, Mao named Hua Guofeng as Prime Minister, and his heir few days before his death on 9th September 1976. Hua a strong maoist was both President of the Communist party and Prime Minister. After that Deng Xiaoping and the reformists took the control of the Central Comity in December 1978, he was slowy pushed out of power.
The first move was to oblige him to give up his Prime Minister function to Zhao Ziyang who had implimented a lot of reforms in Guangdong then in Sichuan, on 10th September.
The following year he was forced to give up the presidency of the CCP to Hu Yaobang, then expelled from the politbureau
