Taiwan rejects China's call for formal peace talks
China Hu Jintao, during his opening speech of the XVIIe Congress, offered formal peace accord with Taiwan, the first time since Chen Shui-bian leads the Island more than seven years ago.
But Taiwan rejected the call, saying it is an independant country whose future must be decided by theTaiwan people.
In its response the Taiwanese authorities mentioned the situation in Tibet, that the KMT never did considering Tibet as a part of China, and the support of China to the Myanmar military junta.
