It was very funny. In Beijing I baught an air ticket from the capital of Qinghai province to Lhassa. But I arrived there, I have been told that this fly did not exist for one year So I took a bus (2 days trip). We have been blocked by snow and Chenese army manouvers. We slept in a school room. In the bus, my place was kept by the driver's dog. A very bad smelling one, but it looked sacred. In final, arrived in Lhasa, it was wonderful... It was in 1987.
PS : I worked in Bangladesh for 3 years

do you know that:
Asian families still consider taking care of the elderly as their responsibility, unlike in the West where having them stay in old-age homes are common. Though some Asian countries like Japan do have publicly operated residences for senior citizens, many largely stick to the tradition of caring for their old folk.
Studies by the population resource centre, based at the University of Michigan in the United States, show this is the case in places like Thailand and the Philippines.

I remember my french boss in one of the companies i worked with, some 5 years ago, he told me his mom is around 70 and alone in france while he works here, when asked about how her mom was going, he said, his mom is still strong, goes to the market by herself but stays in an institution.( home for the elderlies)..i was thinking it would be different in the philippines, but i never said a word..

You have to learn a lot. Be my studient. One part of my job is to prepare French cadrees going to work In Asia. I always said to to them in China, Thailand, Malaysia : don't shake hand, don't kiss, don't touch.
You, the Filipinos have been influenced by Espana and America.
Don't they know that the Philippines has been under Spain for 300 years?
In the Philippines, there is a very strong Spanish influence in their festivals, thus making the Philippines, distinctively occidental. Fiesta is the term used to refer to a festival. Most of these fiestas are celebrated in honor of a patron Saint. Some prime examples include Sinulog from Cebu and Ilo-Ilo's Dinagyang.
Dinagyang Festival
Celebrated every 4th weekend of January in Iloilo City. Spectacle characterized by frenetic stomping of feet and hypnotic drumbeating. It is a colorful whirl of thousands of people dressed in unique costumes dancing and chanting all day and night.

hi jacques,
I mentioned about Omega 3, i watched a feature on tvb pearl about it, a patient who was suffering from severe depressions
and attempted several suicides (unsuccesful) was given Omega 3 and after 6 months, this patient greatly improved and had a more positive outlook in life-
children who were given Omega 3 were also discovered to have smarter attitude in school than those who did not take it.
articles claiming that it may boost brain functions:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/03/07/health/webmd/
main2545045.shtml
but tvb pearl reports the positive result of boosting the brain.
Omega 3 is nothing but fish oil but 80% of the brain is made of fats- and it acts well with Omega 3, Salmon and oily fish are the best source of Omega 3, Parsley and other nuts are best source from the plants or vegetables. Greeks benefit from it because research found out that chickens grown in farm from Greece, ate parsley and their eggs have been shown to have Omega 3 substances- Try Greek salads and other Greek cuisine they always have parsley and other nuts to supplement us with Omega3.
Japan is the highest consumming fish nation, Hong kong is the fourth, I wish i could have as much Omega 3 also
