北京奥运 我不支持!

反对对反对& #22768;音的限制

No excessive politicization

Is it very timely to say no to the Beijing Olympics?

considering Burma's crisis where China plays a major role?

Will the Beijing Olympics be China's "waterloo" when it comes to Burma?

If so, then what is the world waiting for.

Boycott the Olympics? Why?

Athletes from 49 countries took part in the Berlin Olympics under the Nazi party in 1936, an increase of 12 nations over the 1932 Olympics.

5,179 athletes from 81 countries took part in the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

Historians put the number of countries boycotting the event at somewhere between 45 and 50 and another dozen or so who claimed to be boycotting it but probably wouldn't have attended due to monetary constraints anyway.

What did the boycott achieve?

Russian didn't withdraw from Afghanistan as a result of the boycott.

How long did it take America, who lead the boycott, to take any action over Afghanistan? Not until the events of 9/11 did the US do anything.

Boycotting the Olympics achieves nothing ... except stop those athletes who have trained in preparation for the event from participating.

The Olympics are about sport, not politics. The forum for politics is the UN and, to a lesser extent, the IMF and World Bank.

I agree but people always play the game of politicking
admit it or not, implied or declared, wether you are partying or not, affluent or poor, the UN or Olympics specially those who have higher degrees of influences and interests in this much politicised world.
