It has been a year ago since i registered in AO and was
very glad to know that this site has been a hub for
professional journalists, historians, writers and therefore
could be a dining table for politics and views.
But even when Myanmar came close to a bitter revolution
its people, the monks against the junta bursted, until now
Miramars question remained unanswered.Everybody maybe waiting
from all of us-- but we still keep on waiting-
When Nargis struck, and the cyclone death toll soared above
Red Cross: Burma Cyclone Death Toll Could Rise to Nearly 128,000 http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,355538,00.html
the question of neglect from the world about Burma
became more than a nightmare---perhaps facing this
nightmare can help us balanse a hope which has been
hanged in the balanse for 5 decades.
Why leave Myanmar on its own horrible political state?
Saddam Hussein’s regime is much less evil than Than Shwe’s regime and yet Saddam’s regime is wipe off. Why in the world nations that value human rights and dignity let Than Shwe’s regime untouched?- from miramar

Good and brilliant move linsi and thanks for the meaningful and wise discussion/heading.
I sincerely hope readers especially the writers can contribute and debate why Than Shwe’s regime is left “untouched”. Any person who had “normal full” (not damage/infested) brain understands the magnitude of the destruction of Nargis and this perfect cyclone can be the most deadliest cyclone in Asia’s history. The dead toll is rising day by day either by the natural disaster and/or man made disaster like Than Shwe’s regime conduct and behavior/policies. Hundreds of thousands of human death cannot bring the attention of so called “civilized and democratic/free” nations not to mention these western free nations has the money and the tools and the technology. I am really frustrated and puzzle NOT by the brutal regime that exist in Asia BUT by the motionless of the powerful developed nations that claim they treasure and respect human’s right and dignity. THAT what makes me puzzle.
Some say US lead Nations of the Willing wipe off Saddam’s regime because of OIL. Really? If it is because of OIL why in the world do the Americans after sacrificing thousands of troops have to pay higher prices for OIL? Why? Does that make sense? Many Americans are not happy with the sacrifice they have made concerning with Iraq/Saddam Regime and the results or rewards are negative for Americans, especially the price of OIL. Who is dumb here? The people who says America invade Iraq because of OIL or people who says because Saddam is an evil tyrant that oppressed his own people?
What ever the reason or reasons are, the happening of Nargis and Than Shwe’s regime conduct makes the International/UN looks dumb in my opinion for Saddam’s regime never oppressed longer than the Burmese military for Burmese military had been bullying and killing its people for 46 years and counting not to mention the recent humongous death tolls both natural and man made had inflicted upon the poor and innocent women and children of Myanmar and yet the free and democratic nations just talk and no action taken towards this despicable regime and their supporters who are the main culprit of letting this happened in 21st Century of modern world.
That is why I am claiming that the MENTALITY of 21st Century is very PRIMITIVE and needs to developed and advanced to higher authority and to be in par with technology and material things that is advancing rapidly. The MENTAL status of the 21st Century people especially the leaders of the leading democratic world needs to improve drastically.
Where is justice and liberty for the 52 million people of Myanmar? Where may I humbly ask? Where is the essence of no discrimination in race or region?
What are the so called learned and fully, highly educated intellectuals’ concept of basic human dignity and values? What had gone wrong? An intelligent being/person knows that where ever there is defects, it should be corrected and make it perfect for perfection is mankind’s quest for achievement. Does it not?
Will stop for now for this discussion can and will be continue when a free time is available for me. I want to correct what is wrong and make wrong into right no matter how many odds are against me for this is the norms of intelligent designs.

As we await for others to join the discussion,
i started off with Saddam Hussein.
What I will post is also an analysis from experts
in which i hope i could post the link which,
i'm afraid i lost it, anyway, on with exchanges...
If we compare iraq war were the US liberated Iraquis
from the clutch of Saddam Hussein ,
we will go back to history when Iraq invaded
and controlled Kuwait.-
Let us also take into consideration
that there are "bullies" in the middle east
namely, formerly iraq, an now iran and syria,
playing roles in conflict-
they are aiming for dominance in the middle east
and when they are successful, they will aim to destroy USA.-
remember the slogan "death to america?"
we can sense a sharp threat to America
as early or even before the kuwait invasion
hope somebody can join us miramar-

Burmese military had destroyed Burma’s dignity, credibility, prosperity, legality, humanity, democracy, integrity and most of all the meaning of life.
Life inside Burma is now worthless to live. The people of Burma are in bondage by their own kind home grown fascists that no nation can help, not even the world. The entire country is a huge jail where torture, repressions, oppressions, restrictions, cruelty and brutality are normal. In short Burmese people are slaves to their own demonized devils. If one wants to look at hell on earth go live inside Burma as a Burmese and not as a foreigner.
In my opinion Burma is gone beyond repair. For example if anything is beyond repair, it is wise to “replace” rather than “repair”. The entire system of Burma needs to be replace with civilized, humanized personals that has different mentality rather than “militarized mentality” that infected massively now in Burma/Myanmar.

Dear linsi,
There are bullies everywhere. Yes, now Iran is building to be the regional major power. Wars and conflicts are not new to humanity. Humans tend to make mistakes and cannot control their greed for power and wealth. Some of the bullies have mental problems. If you look back into the past, Hitler is the perfect example of mental problem.
During the early 20th Century, in Asia Japan is the worst seeking power and wealth and invade many Asian nations. Same goes in 21st Century where China bullies many and even had a “mild” warning http://article.wn.com/view/2008/05/31/
US_issues_thinly_veiled_warnings_to_China/ from US for bullying smaller, weaker Asian nations.
I will not be surprise if we see more wars waging in the future. Especially if there’s a Republican President in Office. So far threats may be brewing but as soon as it reach its height and time to blow off we will see invasions or wars occur.
Concerning with Myanmar, she is the problem child of the family. As long as there are mental deficiency rulers and subjects alike in Myanmar and as long as the International Community ignore the facts and reality, Myanmar problems will endure and can escalate into regional conflicts and beyond. So far, although Myanmar’s full name is the Union of Myanmar, there is no Union or United spirit between the ethnics and majority race Bamars and the civil war that is going on between Burmese military and ethnic forces, the longest running/waging civil war in world’s history will go on and on with no end in sight not to mention the peoples (including the Buddhist Monks) war or revolt against the Burmese military.
The world had seen 2 major conflicts in Myanmar within 9 months time. September revolt of Buddhist Monks which ends violently right before the world’s eyes and now by Nargis in May. When 2 major chaos happening within the time frame of 9 months time what does that tell us? This particular nation is conducting something terribly wrong or evil for punishment does not happen twice in a short period of time.
I believe in Good and Evil. These forces are not new. It is just that we have to think which side are we for?
I knew you had a good heart linsi and you contribute goodness and goodwill for Asia Observer (AO) website. Keep it up and God bless and protect you and your family as long as you live on this planet earth. I admire “trained nurses” for they are well trained to have compassion/compassionate towards humanity. A very kind, understanding, gentle, unselfishness and noble profession indeed.
With utmost respect and best regards,
Paradoxan.

Good analysis linsi. I agree on the account of Saddam Hussein’s rise to power and threat, US had to diminished the threat. On the contrary Myanmar’s military is not a threat to no nation, not even Thailand let alone US so you make it clear that only the threat to US will US take action. That makes sense. Also I agree Israel plays a vital part in US foreign policy. The US support for Israel is solid and fundamental. You are right linsi in America’s defense on nations that seeking the destruction of USA. In that case what if and a big IF China and or Russia seeks the destruction of US?
As America goes for the big guys, the small little pest like Myanmar’s military get loose and do whatever they pleases to do. Unfortunately it is the Myanmars (people) that suffers and pays the ultimate price of losing their lives. Linsi, if you live in Myanmar NOT as a foreigner but as Myanmar citizen your life is in danger constantly for one false move/step your life can be snub out just like a little ant. You never know when you’ll end up in jail or even death if you do/say something “against” the military government.
Now let’s analyze the current situation of the world including Myanmar. For the future Iran and North Korea will be on the spotlight as you mention they can be the threat to America’s destruction BUT never underestimate the cunning tricks of Russia and China’s moves for America will be left unguarded by the combined forces of evil.
It is no secret China is building its military rapidly and greatly, occupying Tibet, inner Mongolia, creating Myanmar as her satellite, aiming on Taiwan and interfering/eyeing on South China Sea especially the SPARTLY ISLANDS.
America had already signal a “notice” on China concerning with bullying neighboring nations of South China Sea.
What do you think about that linsi? I mean the notice/warning by US on China for bullying her neighboring nations?
