AGAIN, are we ready? 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: -3
Dear All,

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening where ever you are

Are we ready?

National Reconciliation? Unity? Talks? , Negotiation? Compromise?

We have been preparing for this journey for years. Are we ready ? This question may be funny for some but it’s not funny at all. But what is really funny is after all these years some body is not ready yet. I can’t believe it?

When will they see what SPDC is doing is in the interest of the Nation as well. When will they see the positive side of the SPDC?

We have to go forward, we need to go forward. Do we want to forward or not. Do we want to stay put , do we want to go back where we came? Have we forgotten something, what is it? SHITS?

SPDC said the new constitution is ready for referendum in May., Conditions are right to hold election in 2010. NLD said they are not ready yet. Elections in 2010 is two years away, every one will have enough time , a lot of time. If two years is not enough for NLD then it should stay out.

As a matter of fact who cares if NLD is ready or not. NLD didn’t take part in the election, That’s not the problem . That is their right. NLD did not take part in the National Convention, didn’t they?

To be honest , we don’t know what might come up during those two years? It’s hard to say. Secretery One of SPDC could not foresee the future. I think what was in his mind is. it has to be done, hoping for the best, prepared for the worse.
Tatmadaw must be always ready and prepared.

Ko Aung San once said, “ we are hoping for the best and we are ready and prepared for the worse ” .

In many countries, elections are held for many reason and according to the law constitution. Among them they were held when the ruling party has a good chance of winning the elections or the opposition is calling for election if they see they have a chance of wining. During four to five years of a government if the government id doing very badly, no confidence vote will apply and early elections were called.

What was NLD doing during all these years? A snake without the head? Yes true some of their members are detained but most of them were out . In and out that’s the way it is in politic. Where is their spirit?

I am in favour of “ General Amnesty ”. SPDC did it many times before. But they can do it again. It would be very nice.

In other countries it is called “ Probations ” . The law and rules which can restrict anybody’s movement, undesirable activities. If they break it they have to go back to jail or prison to serve the term. As I know it, there are some people on probation in Myanmar.

They have to watch out, in any so called “free country“, freedom is limited. It is within laws, rules, regulation and procedures. There are rules and regulations, for the pedestrians, even on the roads, on the streets.

Who is calling a shot in Myanmar, NLD or SPDC?

Everybody is saying to SPDC to speed up the democratisation process in Myanmar . Putting pressures on SPDC for rapid change. That is what SPDC is doing, complying with their requests, in the interest of the nation.

If NLD said they are not ready, that is their problem. If they are not ready and prepared for a time like this, the defence rests.

I have heard that NLD is also trying to have separate negotiation with ceasefire ethnic groups. In my view that’s a wrong move. What was it NLD trying to do?

They (NLD) are not the government at the moment in Myanmar. They should consider themselves that they are lucky that SPDC is closing its eyes on NLD contacts with armed insurgent groups. They are lucky SPDC has not declare them as illegal organisation. But they have been warned.

If they are in United States or in United Kingdom, Ma Su Kyi may be in the prison for life for having contact with Osama bin Ladins of the terrorists groups in Myanmar. These kind of terrorist groups will not be permitted in US and UK
Either which are taking pride as the world most democratic nations.

They can try on US if they want Dr Sein Win (NLD) and all are in US. Dr Win Naing and others are in UK. They have tried it in Thailand. They can try again in Singapore or in Australia.

In England they are under the control of Rights and Justice department. Don’t take it wrong this control means they should not do what might jeopardise the good relation between two nations. England and other country. That the theory any way.

All they could do is having regular meetings with an official from rights and justice department and leaders and representative of other exile opposition and terrorists groups. They can make request or appeals or complaint, petitions to this officer and Foreign Office will talk to SPDC through its representative. They can help each other to over throw their governments so much and so forth.

NOW, referendum and elections in Myanmar. First the New Constitution had not been hastily done it has taken enough time. The question how much of this constitution , the people understand, to accept it or to reject it when it come to them for their approval.

Personally, I would like to see this constitution as a general knowledge subject , optional subject at school colleges and universities for the future younger generation.

How many of us understand thoroughly what Buddha or Jesus or Mohamed had said. How did we translate them and how much do we accept them? I know, everybody know that SPDC is not Buddha nor Jesus, nor Mohamed, how many people know that Ma Su Kyi or Gorge W Bush or Ben Ki Moon are nether?

The people must be able to see and understand the New Constitution how many of them study it , it’s basic principles. May I ask? As I remember it 1974 Constitution was approved and BSPP Government was installed by the people.

I am coming back to “ Personality and Performance” again. Then and there in 1974 , if people have these two clearly in their minds 1988 incidents would not happened. But it happened

On the economic front BSPP may have not make changes in time when it was needed. According to Dr. Maung Maung the last civilian President of the provisional Government BSPP did try to reformed but it was too late . BSPP did not see well ahead of time. They did not foresee, they could do no prediction , nobody predicted. They were not prepared, they were not ready for the worse, that was civilian government of President U San Yu, Prime Minister U Sein Win. The Chairman of BSPP was U Ne Win. Because they have all the positives view, they under estimated the opposition. So be it. There will always be a storm, at least in the tea cup.

When will people be ready? Forget SPDC, forget NLD The people means 52 million of them or those who are eligible to vote. Those who are in the country, those who are outside the country legally.

Last time I voted I was in Germany in 1974. But I did not vote in 1990, because I did not want to vote I did not sustain anybody. Besides voting is not compulsory in Myanmar. That is a right , a human right, my right I don’t have to do anything what I don’t want to do, that is if I am not bound by law. If I had voted NLD , I will regret all my life. This regret might even kill me. I was right that I did not vote at all.

Elections are not the election if the opposition doesn’t win. Elections are not free and fair if the opposition does not win. If that is the concept, then there should be no elections at all.

Whether Tatmadaw representatives are in the Hluttaws or not . If there is a danger of the nation. Tatmadaw has a duty and take responsibility to take care of the nation ( Myanmar )

Non-disintegration of the Union , non- disintegration of national solidarity . Perpetuation of sovereignty should be the motto of every citizen of Union of Myanmar Naing Gan Daw. It should be the motto of every political party in Myanmar.

But we have to wait and see the economic policy, foreign policy , social affairs policy this and that policies of political parties. My vote will be for the party. Which will most satisfy the nation’s need, the people need. Not my need, because I don’t need nothing.

There were many conflicting reports on last elections in 1990 . The world community were on the side of NLD. Pressures on SLORC campaign were for NLD only. Some smear campaign on Tatmadaw, some even campaign against old timers. In their own ways and means misleading the people, intimidation , harassing frightening people scaring people. That was called free and fair.

During the 1988 uprising, the opposition wielding the Dahs and the Dotes in the air. some innocents people have been killed, set alight, be headed, tortured and beaten , in those lawlessness Buddhist Monks were involved, They were all on the records, they happened in front of the cameras .

Supporting BSPP seemed to be a crime. BSPP supporter are condemned everywhere even in this forum and others. And that is democracy for them.

And these are the people who called for “ freedom, liberty and justice”.
During these years, how much Myanmars ( people ) have learnt to enhance democracy and human rights , how much they have learnt for democracy to take root in Myanmar. How much they will value it, how much they will treasure it depends on how much they know how much that democracy cost them.

Since the last election in 1990, there were many changes. Some changes were so smooth and gentle we do=id not even notice. For instance from Slorc to SPDC. From Gen Saw Maung to Sr Gen Than Shwe. We have no constitution. SPDC ruled, we like it or not Like the monastery at the top of the village, that is the people’s property, but the Abbot rules in that monastery not the people.

We the people have to change with these changes as well, we cannot stick on the past. Myanmar saying is very clear, “ Hlay Na Dah Htit Ma Mhay Ne ” “ Thit Maya Kin - Waah Poung Kut ”. In world wide saying “ slow and steady wins the race ”. We can build democracy slowly and steadily. We will get there one day If we have understand and if we are united, we will get there sooner then expected.

Another one is “ Hlay Asin - Myin Atet “, we have to be careful when we get off from a boat, or get on a horse. It’s tricky. It is not that somebody is going to trick you. It is unforeseen danger. We can hurt ourselves, we have been hurting our selves time and time again., because we were not careful.

SPDC has announced that there will be referendum on new Constitution. There will be elections in 2010. Do you want to blame the SPDC for being an optimist or do you want to blame somebody for being pessimist ?

Now is the time, to go back home, or to the nearest Myanmar Embassy or council to register yourself to exercise your rights.

AGAIN, are we ready .

Who wants to prolonging the military rule in Myanmar?
