Daw Su and NLD repeatedly request Than Shwe to have meaningful dialogue with them for many years. The US, EU, Asien and all the world countries encouraged SPDC again and again in those years. The world has warned Than Shwe that if he refused to meet the election winning opposition party, the world won't like you and international sanctions will come and the country will suffer, the people will suffer. The world encourage Than Shwe to meet with opposition leader DASSK and showed he really cares for the country. Than Shwe did not moved an inch and kept saying he has no plan to meet with opposition. At last the world realized he was scared like a baby to loose the power.
Thanks to Daw Su and UN's untiring encouragement, Than Shwe finally agreed to meet the opposition. But he placed unwise terms as obstacles. People regards his terms as unintelligent and not even discussed in the community. Did not recognized them.
Daw Su saved Than Shwe by ignoring his terms as if those have nothing to do with her and with the Interest of the Nation. It is wise for her to leave the terms (confrontation, devastation and sanctions) for Than Shwe to figure out himself. Now it seems nobody cares for his terms.
People are grateful for Daw Su's magnificent decision. Rather than complaining, Than Shwe too must thank her, understand Daw Su will to co operate and join her. The People, the Monks, the Students, the party and the army all must join to build the Democratic country.
Some people suggest Than Shwe should declare he will give up Military Dictatorship and step down from the Army Chief of Staff position if he really cares for the country like Pakistan President Musharif. He is well over sixty which is unlawful to be in the army. That's enough reason to quit the job and save his face.
He can go into free and fair election at anytime. That is the only way to lift sanctions. Daw Su has nothing to do with sanction. Than Shwe invited Sanction and he is the only one to stop..
Show the world he is reasonable man. He is not above the Law.
What about Than Shwe's income in last 15 years. I remember Kyaing Kyaing dancing like a headless chicken in Burmese group dancing (Kabyar-loot) on stage at Kandawgyi Boat Race in 1992 with very ordinary cloths and almost no jewelry. Since Than Shwe's income was fixed, it is easy to guess his salary in 15 years is not more than $50,000, how come he build luxury houses after another in Yangon, Mawlamyine, Naypyidaw, Yadanarpone, etc... for his daughters also. How can the daughters ware huge diamonds? Stole? Corrupted? Bribes? Kickbacks? Presents?
What will you say if people think he is a thief? I'm sure his income couldn't afford to buy those things.
