Why now only want to talk! 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 3
Just count for 15 years period (out of 19 years) under SPDC, is it not long enough for a nation to recover from poverty and its people living standard? Is it all because of sanctions and many internal and external problems but who is creating these many problems to arise.

OK, whatever SPDC are doing is for the interest of the nation, right? And, people have to encourage them but for how long? But seems like they are doing for their own interest. That is why they are buying time with long waiting road map to Democracy agenda and never thought of any discussion or reconciliation with anybody.

In March 2003, DASSK said an interview, just months before she was put under house arrest “We've been trying to get them to the negotiating table for 14 years but they have never been keen on the idea. We certainly bear no grudges against them. We are not out for vengeance. We want to reach the kind of settlement which will be beneficial to everybody, including the members of the military".

Yet DASSK has reportedly continued to make conciliatory gestures toward the regime through back channels. She did so publicly during her meeting with UN envoy Gambari in May 2006. And she has often claimed that as the daughter of independence leader Aung San she understands the Myanmar military's mentality and is prepared to work side-by-side with the SPDC in a process of national reconciliation.

"We have genuine goodwill toward the Burmese military. I personally look upon it with a certain amount of affection because of my father, and I want it to have an honorable position in the country," she said in 2003.

But in 2006, SPDC told Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar that DASSK was "irrelevant" to Myanmar's political future. General Than Shwe, the SPDC's top man, also told Ibrahim Gambari, reportedly with a straight face, that she had no support inside the country. "Aung San Suu Kyi is nice to foreigners but she is not very nice to us," he reportedly said.

Police chief General Khin Yi also told a secret meeting of senior police officers, according to notes of his speech reviewed by Asia Times Online. "The home minister has ordered us to clear all the NLD."

General Than Shwe reportedly cringes at the mere mention of DASSK’s name, say Myanmar officials aware of the situation. Asian foreign ministers were requested by their Myanmar counterparts at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Phnom Penh in 2002 to avoid mentioning her in his presence.

Khin Nyunt, the SPDC's former intelligence chief and prime minister, frequently warned the UN's special envoy to Myanmar, Razali Ismail, to minimize mentioning Suu Kyi's name when he held discussions with the top general in the past. Indonesia's foreign minister, Hasan Wirajuda, reportedly confided to UN officials that there was a marked change in General Than Shwe's demeanor when he mentioned Aung San Suu Kyi. "His eyes glazed over and his facial muscles tensed; clearly our discussion had come to an end," he said.

At the end, who suffers the most, SPDC or people?
Are people poor enough?
And why now only want to talk?

Instead of pondering over why, we should be asking more on 'how' will the talks be.

Even to get to this stage did Daw Suu, the NLD and others have to make compromises whereas the SPDC generals seems to have done 'none'. What will become of their past crimes? Can we easily brushed them aside just 'for the sake of the country'? Who can speak on behalf of the victims of not just the recent crimes but also from the 1988 and before that?

As for the people, their position must be what we say in Burmese 'than-gaung-htet nya-ma-net-taw-bu' (can't be darker than midnight). 'For the sake of the country' they have suffered beyond imagination and this time they must have made up their minds.

I cannot imagine the role of the military in a positive light unless they made a drastic change. The belief that as long as the soldiers can be ordered to shoot then they can do what they like with impunity must have to be totally wiped out of their brains (provided they have some maybe even with low IQ).

Whenever I mentioned about South Africa people will say that 'every country is unique'. No doubt about it but isn't there anything to be learnt from history? Like South Africa, a peaceful transition in Burma (with or without talks) can never be achieved if we cannot buried the 'gohsts' of the past with something like 'Truth Commission' in South Africa.

Wzien, I do hope that your commission will include all activites done by your heroes, revolutionary heroes and the likes, including NLD inc, their discussion of confrontation, connection with insurgents, many innocent lives silently disappeared in the jungle. good luck. keep raving hate soup. when things are starting to happen, rather than looking forward to achieve the best result for the whole country and people, dwelling and still trying to finger point, essence of democrazy perhaps. you have your rights so utilise and incite the best you can. One country one people, thats all to it.

Dear Maung Than,

I know for a fact that I'm not pretty. Pretty or ugly is not the point. The point is how true you are to your colleagues and the cause you believe in.

Please do not provoke me to the point that I have to tell the rest of the world how you're making profit out of people who are seeking refugee status. Like your uncle Mr Monk in the Sangha Council, both of you are not much better than 'maggots that comes out of the flesh'. Neither of you possess human dignity or decency.

Next time when you're in one of the MPs (preferably the Greens) look up for the mandate of the ICRC. We used to say, 'beter to be seated if you do not want to show your disability'(unless you want to participate in the special Olympics - you will qualify for your intellectual disability if not for something else).

I even know how much you charge for each reference you wrote.

Re:Why now only want to talk! 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: -4
My dear Patriots,

On this page the question was, " Why now only want to talk!".

The answer is very simple.

" Myanmar leaders are no cowards. Cowards can never be leaders. The leaders are born and die. A day to be born and a day to die. A day to make war, a day to make peace."

The leaders are making the simple thing simple.

If somebody thinks the talking as weakness, or cowardess. it would be very wrong. Especially Myanma Tatmadaw and its leaders or Myanmar leaders are no cowards at all. Myanmar leaders are no cowards. Cowards can never be leaders.

Myanmar leaders are no cowards. Cowards can never be leaders. The leader are born and die. A day to born and a day to die. A day to make war, a day to make peace.

That's why they are trying to talk, trying to make peace.

Now let me go on a bit.

In the year 1752, Myanmar Naing Gan under the rule of weak King Mahadhama Yazar Dipadi ( Maung Mhu ) fell into the hands of Mon-Talaings. The King was taken from Inwa(Ava) to Hanthawaddy. He was later known as Hanthawaddy Yaut Min. Myanmar Naing Gan was broken into pieces again

Mon-Talaings King Upa-yarzar sent his emissaries of 30 to U Aung Zeya in Motsobo( Shwe bo ) to swear allegiance to the him. At the same time on the same day Kwe Gonna Aing who declared himself King in Madayar Oatpho just before Inwa fell to Mon-Talaings also sent a delegation of 20 to U Aung Zeya and to swear allegiance to him.,

U Aung Zeya rejected his parents and relatives advices, diplomatically refused to swear to both Upayarzar and Kwe Gonna Aing. Instead he united 46 villages around Motsobo and prepared to defend by building Htan -lon Fort.

Since then U Aung Zeya later known as Aloung Min Tayar not only successfully defended Montsobo but also took all Myanmar and established Kongboung Dynesty only to be fell into the hands of the British, because of disunity among Myanmars and because of the anglophile Myanmar traitors.

If only U Aung Zeya was weak , if only he had swore allegiance to Mon-Talaings' Upa-yarzar or to Kwe Gonna Aing, if only Myanma Tatmadaw under his leadership was weak, there would be no Konboung Dynesty, there would be no Myanmar Naing Gan Daw.

The same goes to Ko Aung San and the leaders after him in Myanmar. If they were/are allegiance to any foreign power there would be no land to call Myanmar Naing Gan. Ko Aung San and Myanma Tatmadaw or the leaders after him have nobody else but allegiance to the Myanmar people and to the land of Myanmar.

Myanmar is an independent, soverign , none align, neutral nation.

If Myanmaa Tatmadaw has not done its job, which ids to defend and protect Myanmar and its people. Myanmars as people or the land called Myanmar will not be here today.

Having said that, there never was discrimination against any race by all rulers in Myanmar. They may have argued, they may have fought, but they are one people. in one country.

Please remember that.
