Hi Linsi,

Thanks for inviting me here..I really love talking about Asia.

to all other AO Forumers,

Linsi and I were forum bugs, friends and virtual sisters since 2001.

I have been living and working in Singapore for the last 7 years. Singapore is almost a second home to me. I have learned to love this country as much if not more than the Philippines.

By knowing more about Singapore, I have learned more about myself, our ancestors (Malays and Indonesians) and also some of our other fellow Asians (CHinese, Indians, Japanese, Koreans etc...).

I learned more about myself in the sense that I have learned how my personality, identity and character was shaped not only by the Spaniards and Americans but also by other fellow Asians.

MOst people would think that Filipinos are influenced by Westerners...but the truth is our Asian character is deeply ingrained, not only by blood but because of geographical proximity to other Asian Countries. We may be watchign AMerican movies and TV shows...btu the reality is the tropical climate and the oceans surrounding our archipelage still controls the way we live, the way we communicate to our neighbors.

Back to linsi,

Linsi, I think you will see me here more often.

Hi Linsi,

Where did you post my blog entry about Batam, Indonesia?

Btw, this picture is taken during my last trip to Goa, India.

Goa, is in the Western part of India whose inhabitans are 95% Catholic, thanks to the influence of the Portuguese Colonial Empire in the 1500s and Vasco De Gama.

This picture here is the oldest church in Goa. The Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, which sits ontop of a Limestone Hill overlooking the ARabian Sea. This particular town where this church hovers over is called The Town that never gets flooded.

Even if it is very close to the sea, townfolks, say the town never gets flooded .

I will give you more insigths later on.

By the way, here is the pic of the oldest Catholic Church in Goa, India:

No wonder Goan's culture and traditions are very similar to Filipino's culture.

I will create a separate thread for my insights about Goa.

Just giving AO Forumers a taste of what is to come

Again, thanks Linsi and JAcques for the warm welcome
