The face of Ahmed Raza Kasuri, the counsel for the government in dual-office case before the Supreme Court, was painted black by another lawyer at the court entrance on Monday morning.
In the incident witnessed by a bunch of lawyers and dozens of media persons, Advocate Khurshid Khan, a former Assistant Advocate General of NWFP government, sprayed black paint on the face of Advocate Kasuri as the latter was about to enter the apex court.
Ahmed Raza Kasuri is among the panel of lawyers defending the government before the apex court in petitions challenging the candidature of President of Pakistan for the forthcoming presidential election.
While spraying at Kasuri from a bottle, Khurshid also lambasted his ‘target’ for trying to malign lawyers community leaders in a television show the other evening. He also accused Kasuri of defaming whole lawyers’ fraternity by his acts and speeches.
A perplexed Kasuri also hurled abuses at the offending lawyer but could not save his face from being painted black.
However, Kasuri loudly said he would take revenge of his disgrace. Some of the lawyers and security officials intervened and disengaged both the entangled lawyers.
Later, Ahmed Raza Kasuri alleged that SCBA President, Munir A Malik, Aitzaz Ahsan and Ali Ahmed Kurd were behind the shabby incident.
Kasuri, himself a lawyer, said the black coats are becoming terrorists and were taking law into their own hands.
He said the attacking lawyers actually tried to make him blind by spraying acid.
Kasuri said no body could stop him from raising his voice, adding he would not hesitate to sacrifice his life for the sake of the country.
He said a case was also lodged with Secretariat Police against Khurshid Ahmed Advocate, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Munir A Malik, Ali Ahmad Kurd and Justice (Retd Tariq Mehmood
In his application submitted to police, Kasuri said the attack was the result of a well-planned conspiracy hatched by Aitzaz Ahsan, Munir A Malik, Ali Ahmed Kurd and Justice (Retd) Tariq Mehmood and others.
“They attacked me and Khurshid sprayed dangerous chemical on me, particularly on my face and eyes, in order to render me blind,” Kasuri complained.
