HISTORIC NEWS FROM KOREA:

SEOUL, South Korea (Reuters) -- North and South Korea will send trains across their heavily-armed border on Thursday for the first time since their 1950-1953 war, a move Seoul sees as a milestone in reconciliation.

This is indeed a milestone in relations between North and South Korea. Yet still there are so many issues to be solved. Do we have reasons to be optimistic?

May be the milestone which is with blank page of in the 50 year-history.

The reunification of TWO KOREAS remains as elusive as ever.

North Korea should understand its Starlinism won't help starving millions of North Koreans. It can't expect help from so-called China’s Communism and Capitalism. China has its own interests of where its business can grow.
Only Democratic South Korean government is helping the most for starving communist North koreans.
North Korea should learn lessons from the TWO GERMAN STATES those came to reunify in 1989 and it has been improving. It may take a while to have the best outcome.

I was thinking to post a new forum call "Can we thrust Norh Korea ?" but we can exchange through this one.

Yes, it will be an historic trip, but I am not sure it will have serious consequence. From the historic summit between Kim Dae-jung and Kim Jong-il in june 2000, very fiew improvments have obtained.

North Korea want only money. She never respected any of the engagement she agree since 1994. If GNP come back to power, and that very possible, the inter-Korea will return bad.

There is a possilibity of economic crisis, where south korea takes the toll.

When the wall in Germany broke leading to a unified East and West, West Germany suffered in terms of economy.

when Hong Kong opened its boarder to Mainland China
Hong Kong also suffered, due to influx of mainland chinese grabbing most of the medical and social welfare benefits from the locals not to mention a rise of crime associated. With many factors.

Hong Kong also suffered from cheap labor forces.

I may sound as a pessimist but my opinion was based on written events.

When there was the Kim Dae-jung Kim jong-il summit, we where very holping. To encourage the move, a lot of countries establshied diplomatic relations with North Korea and Nobel Price has been given to Kim Dae-jung and North Korea Foreign minister has been invited to attend the following ARF summit. Some years laters, we leard that Kim Dae-jung, paid, I think 400 million $ for that summit. The boss of the conglomerate who gave the money killed himself.

This train ouverture is just "Bejing opera"

On 16 May 2007, when North and South Korea decided to send trains across the border, Sandwand rise"d the question "Do we have reasons to be optimists". I wasd not. Now, with the announcement of a second top meeting, it is the turm of Shim Jae Hoon, from Asia Sentinel to rise the same question. An again I am not optimist.
