Beware of Chinese aggression. China will definitely claim the Spartly Islands now or in the future for their expansionist policy. Smart and wise move by the Philippines. Better be safe than sorry. but neglect by Arroyo and squabbles over turf and money
have derailed government efforts to establish the country's
new archipelagic baseline, and may jeopardize
the Philippines' claim over resource-rich Spratlys
that fall within its extended continental shelf.


The drafting of the country's claim under the UNCLOS
is a tale of infighting among agencies wanting
to take the lead and subsequently controlling
the billions of pesos of government fund
for that undertaking,
including a $250,000 grant from the Norwegian government.



Bureaucratic wrangling also marred baseline-related
activities of the past administrations.


During the presidency of Fidel V. Ramos,
interagency power play derailed a project
that would have strengthened the Philippine position
to include a portion of the disputed Kalayaan Island Group

(KIG) within the Philippine archipelagic baseline.
The KIG is part of Spratlys.

Thanks for the informative response. I even copy the map of the link you provided. You had enlighten me more and as I had said before I endorse the territorial claim of Spartly Islands by the Philippines boldly, bluntly and strongly. I am sorry to hear, read and see the disunity, disagreement and disarray among the Philippines’ government infighting. I sincerely think it is in the best interest of Philippines to resolve this unwise government in fighting and neglect by Arroyo and pay utmost attention to Spartly Islands for the sake of the country. Be mature, intelligent and wise to overcome this immature infighting and neglect for the future of Philippines. Unity is the key. May God be with Philippines and her people for generations to come. I stand together with the people of Philippines.

Did you see my cartoon, dated 28 March on China seizure of Pilipino Island ?

I worked a lot on the Spratly problem. I will write soon on that topic. But I am so busy with "On this day" around four hours a day

Yes Jacques, I saw your cartoon the take over by Big guns (China). When I saw your cartoon it reminds me of David (the boy) and Goliath (the Giant professional warrior). As a Christian I believe in overcoming odds and the story of David and Goliath shows “sometime” victory does not depends on size or strength. One thing Philippines need to know is China is NOT the only Mr. Big around. There are also other Mr. Bigs in this world. Let’s say a hypothetical question like IF China attack Philippines, there is no doubt other Bigger Guns (Bigger than China) will be involved in this fight and can led to world war 3. My opinion, I am not afraid of nuclear world war 3. Not a bit. A man had a day to be born and a day to die. What’s new about that? Not only do I not afraid of nuclear war with China or Russia or any nation that bullies on lesser smaller nations in their agenda of expansionist policy I am willing to take a stand and stay firm on my ground.

I am more and more interested in Spartly Islands for this is a test of will, wit and wisdom who is really superior and smart (I found out that Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Taiwan also claims). Like the example of David and Goliath I sincerely hope Philippines is like David finally achieve victory. I stand decisively on the side of Philippines. Size doesn’t mean anything for me. It is the intelligence and wisdom (Brains) that matters. An elephant can be 1,000 times bigger, stronger than a man but the man got the superior brains. Who will win?

Looking forward for your precious time on this vital matter (Spartly Islands), a demonstration between justice and injustices. Although I am not a Philippino, I can’t stand injustices and bullies so Mr. Big…..be careful with this HOT and EXPLOSIVE SPOT of Asia. OK?
