A strong peso for the Phiippines? 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 19

I was in Manila last week-

and i was dismayed by what i saw-
most of metro manila's kitchen cook with
wood charcoal on charcoal stoves
used long ago by my grand mother-
in the country side during the 60's

as i sat in the living room,
smoke came in,( gosh! i was apprehensive
of my respiratory system )

rushing to the kitchen,i asked my friend
about the smoke-

my long time friend told me
" ay- manila now cooks on wood charcoal "

huh! what about the LPG cooking gas?

the answer was- " that cooking gas soared
rocketing high price most of us could not afford
to buy!" ugh!

LPG gas costs 500+ pesos per container
while wood charcoal only costs 180 pesos
per bag- "kaya pala" charcoal stoves
are sold on side streets, remembering
the 60's-

haay- manila is back pedalling
as Arroyo declares a strong peso
everything is costly and people
are whinning how life becomes
harder

what do you think " mga kabayan?"

A strong peso in my dream!

Thursday, November 1, 2007 | MANILA, PHILIPPINES

LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) dealers have hiked prices by a full P5 per kilogram, deciding to pass on record contract prices in the world market to consumers.

The latest increase effective today — the highest in recent history — brings the price range for a regular 11-kilogram LPG tank at P563.50 to P613.25.

The price of LPG has been steadily increasing in the world market, and has risen by about 20% since January.

hi linsi

its a strong peso for the rich people and not for the poor and average Filipinos.

the government always brag about our economy while they didn't even know how to eat 2 times a day with rice and tomatoes as your food!

the strong peso is just a front of the arroyo government to show off. business man and other countries may see this good but people down on the streets don't see it and feel it!

hi stormrage,

A false economy refers to an action which saves money at the beginning but which, over a longer period of time, results in more money being wasted .

there are many reasons why a currency is declared strong-
but it does not follow prosperity among the people and arroyo uses this formula to fake economic strength-
