A considerable buzz in the Pinoy blogging world has formed around the statements of Manila Standard high society columnist Malu Fernandez in her article “Are you a stinky linky? Or do you smell like a divine divalicious babe?” the most derogatory of which are as follows:
* However I forgot that the hub was in Dubai and the majority of the OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) were stationed there. The duty-free shop was overrun with Filipino workers selling cell phones and perfume. Meanwhile, I wanted to slash my wrist at the thought of being trapped in a plane with all of them.
* While I was on the plane (where the seats were so small I had bruises on my legs), my only consolation was the entertainment on the small flat screen in front of me. But it was busted, so I heaved a sigh, popped my sleeping pills and dozed off to the sounds of gum chewing and endless yelling of “HOY! Kumusta ka na? At taga sann ka? Domestic helper ka rin ba?” Translation: “Hey there? Where are you from? Are you a domestic helper as well?” I though I had died and God had sent me to my very own private hell.
* On my way back, I had to bravely take the economy flight once more. This time I had already resigned myself to being trapped like a sardine in a sardine can with all these OFWs smelling of AXE and Charlie cologne while Jo Malone evaporated into thin air.
* All in all, it’s been a pretty good summer. Jetting from the Aegean Sea to the Pacific may sound a bit pretentious until you wake up in economy class smelling like air freshener.

upon reading this post, i couldn't help but smile and laugh in front of my computer..
sus! My answer is NO BIG DEAL!

i remembered when i was soooo disgusted about our very own domestic helpers..but my guardian angel whispered to me and said- " be peaceful and take what you see, they love their families at home and they keep the philippine economy afloat, so let them be.. "
it was a mixed emotion..i just shrugged my shoulders and realized that i was fortunate enough to be on a dependent visa when i went out of the country.
on sunday mornings or whenever i am out on my usual window shopping spree i am always being asked: day off mo? (is it your day off?) haha now i could laugh, when at first i was irked when asked such question realizing that the government has much responsibility why the filipinas are defined as domestic helpers and modern day slaves..not you nor me but those who are in power.
guys, all filipinos out there specially the elites and the "feeling elites.." including the affluent races and all of us here..
Bill Gates is the richest man in the world, he never sneered
at domestic helpers in public,he kept his peace whatever it was,
shame on me..
Bhuffet the second richest man, raised his kids in simple ways ..both gates and bhuffet go out in plain clothes and in simplicity.

again NO BIG DEAL! my code? when proud people get in my way?
specially filipinas like malu whatever.. hahahaha i wouldn't even react to what she's done..
i would just whisper to myself- "remember bill gates" and would keep confident about myself..

THis are the kind of Filipino (Filipinas) who should be tied in a post with full length mirror front and right/left sides...so she would see her own color...and compare her color with other DH.
this maybe the reason why, I hate the "bonding sessions" with other FIlipion professionals here in Singapore...the statements made by Malru here is usually the everyday topic of conversations of the Filipina socialites...and I really hate it..
I even hate Malru Fernandez for having the guts to even write her statements publicly...helloo??? ano ba itsura ng Malru na ito (how does this Malru Fernandez look like?) Is she fair skinned,,does she have skinny long nose and blue eyes...i bet she is NOT!!!
mahiya ngA SYA SA balat NYA!
grrrrrrrr!

Columnist quits after courting ire of droves of OFWs
Malu Fernandez, lifestyle columnist of Manila Standard, resigned from the paper and the travel magazine she used to write for after getting the ire of readers, particularly Filipino overseas workers in Dubai, a statement posted on blogsites and sent to the GMANews.TV email said.
“I take full responsibility for my actions and my friends and family have nothing to do with this. To date I have submitted my resignation letters to both the Manila Standard and People Asia, on that note may this matter be laid to rest," Fernandez said in the statement forwarded to GMANews.TV Thursday evening.
Fernandez in her statement said she was "humbled" by the "vehement and heated" response to her article. She said the article was not meant to malign, hurt or express prejudice against OFWs.
“I am deeply apologetic for my insensitivity and the offensive manner in which this article was written, I hear you all and I am properly rebuked. It was truly not my intention to malign hurt or express prejudice against OFWs," her satement said.
Fernandez claimed that because of the article she became a subject of hate blogs, a target of death threats and personal insults.

Malu Fernandez has resigned from the two publications she worked for already. Should be a good lesson on sense and sensibility for present and future writers.
