QUOTE:
Do you believe Lacson is being true to his word when he says he's not up for revenge against the Arroyos? Or he's just starting to gear up for the 2010 presidential elections that he wants a clean slate at this early all for 'good grooming'?
Ping Lacson is definitely grooming himself for the 2010 presidential elections. But so are opposition senators Loren Legarda, Kiko Pangilinan, Manny Villar and Mar Roxas.
Lacson's advantage is his strongman image. He is, however, tainted with his involvement in the Estrada administration and some human rights cases, which includes the disappearances of unionists, militant peasants and activist leaders in his stint as Cebu Metrocom Chief in the early 90s.
Pangilinan has a Megastar but it would be far too early for him to run for president by 2010. Legarda almost won as vice-president in 2004 and is the chart topping senatoriable last May.
And there's Villar. Notice that his TV ads mimicked Mar Roxas' Mr. Palengke ads. Roxas overwhelmingly won the most number of votes in the 2004 elections.
The opposition senators will be busy preparing for the 2010 to really seriously think about revenge. There would be a lot of grandstanding, however. And this will definitely be against the Arroyo administration.
Serves her right for all the human rights abuses of her illegitimate regime.
