 "The house belongs to Mr Bounsi, headman of Ban nammat Mai, in the mountains above Luang Namtha. The village was established there about 30 years arlier, after the original Ban Nammat gao became too big. It was part of the newly developed eco-tourism trekking programme. Two years later, the villagers decided to shift a few hours downhill, to be closer to the road, for access to markets, education and medical care. So this photo now is history.")

This family came to me and requested a group photo. After many tries, I finally got one where almost everyone looks at the camera, just the baby didn\'t cooperate.
They were happy with the outcome. On the day we visited, they were running the local blacksmith shop, reforging and sharpening their knives and tools for the upcoming harvest.')
